End of May
In case you're wondering, yes I'm still around but I've just been busy. I start a new job at the end of June after a much loved working relationship with my current employer. The IT industry moves quite quicker than any other area I can think of and it was my time to move on I guess. Apart from that, I've been spending some quality time with Ben and Lucy. We watched a Bandit's basketball game a couple of weeks ago now where they lost by around 30 points. Mum also had her birthday on the 5th and we celebrated it at Thai Lotus. Just gotta love the food there. This weekend coming up I'll be in Griffith playing the annual MIA Clay Court tournament. Should be a good weekend. Shortly after that, I'll be celebrating Bek's 20th in Sydney. A lot to look forward to next month. I hope the good news just keeps coming!
Mid may
I went to Ephraim's 21st last week. The awesomest birthday cake. Take a look for yourself...
Anything else exciting going on? NO.
My Birthday
So I did turn 22. It's not really the big birthday you go out and celebrate but I had a nice family lunch/dinner and then the next day I had dinner with a few close friends at La Porchetta. I played the Albury Easter Open all long weekend. Didn't do that well. Got past two rounds of doubles and got cleaned up in the singles. Met some awesome people though! I leave you behind with snapshots from last night.
After dinner we went to Cold Rock where I ran into doubles opponents just on the way back to Sydney. Small place Albury. We then headed to Intencity where Ben was unlucky enough to score a wet seat on Daytona and the machine didn't even work. As usual, I donated my ticket prizes to the little kids running around (brownie points). BTW, check out my sunglass tan...
Burrumbuttock Tennis
I'm a few weekends late on this one. Better late than never. So in what seems to be a "series" of doubles tournaments, Burrumbuttock was the final one I think. It was a mixed tournament and Andrew and I struggled to find partners. We did show up though and we ended up with good teammates! Andrew and his partner came runners up, Ad's came first (trophy hunter
) and I assume that Kirsty and I came 3rd. Great fun and atmosphere with a good balance of competitiveness.
Bungowannah Tennis
Andrew and I played doubles in the Bungowannah round robin tennis tournament. The competition was pretty good. I think we ended up 3rd on our card. The games were based on two service games each and sudden death deuce. A bit unfavourable for scoring in my mind but it made the matches quicker. We managed to come across some foot faults as well. Now I can't stop thinking about where my feet are during my service motion!
Andrew does Obama style speech
Pia and my dad went to James Fallon to watch the Captains and Prefects induction ceremony. I couldn't help but think that this photo of Andrew looks a lot like new American president Obama during a speech!
Liz and Shannon were in Albury this weekend. It was also great that Liz came because it coincided with our Church music at Holy Spirit and St. Pats. We ended up having a nice dinner on Saturday night and then I ended up going out with a few friends. I also ran into people I hadn't seen in ages. Turns out that Adam and Andrew were down for a 21st and had to leave for Melbourne at 7am this morning! Insane I say.
January 2009
A lot has happened in the new year. Let's start with photo number 1.
Andrew won the 18 and under boys consolation draw at the Margaret Court Cup. He played the match really well despite having serving issues that date back to Ducats. His serve was like a heavy lollipop.
Went to Sydney to watch the Medibank International. On the night we got there, we took a ferry to the city from Cremorne Point. We stumbled onto a piano nailed in front of the Opera House. I managed to score a clapping audience of a few people (thanks to Marky).
Photo number 3.
Went to the tennis, got burnt, drank heaps of water and come to the conclusion that Daniela Hantuchova doesn't like Andrew.
Last photo.
Paid $24 an hour to play at an (unnamed) tennis court in the North Shore with nets that were almost neck height. It was like playing on either side of a hill. All we could do was take useless photos.
