New hardcourts at St. Pats Tennis Club

Today I finally got to play on the new Australian Open style blue hardcourts at St. Pats Tennis Club. I really like hardcourts because the bounces are really consistent and there aren't really other factors that will affect your game that much...unlike grass. I feel that by playing on these courts, I can set up for the ball more. Wodonga also has hardcourts located in Parklands but these ones are far better! We had a doubles match and I played some singles with Kristen. Just take a look and maybe I'll even get a chance to record a match there with Dylan.

Daysdale

Nothing more than a little country NSW town bout 30 minutes from Howlong. Dylan, Andrew and Tom held the school holiday tennis clinic there for four days. A pub and a handful of houses were part of this township and of course brand new, synthetic tennis courts under lights.

April Update

So not really much happening with me since Easter. I've been desperately trying to look for a career. Career I say because a career is more than a job. I want something that challenges me every day and I actually want to use the knowledge and skills I learnt through uni. So far I've had around about 7 interviews, 3 of them came really close. I always get right through to the end but don't quite make it over the finish line. I hope I can find something soon!

On another note, I've been playing heaps and heaps of tennis. Not good tennis but I'm still playing. I'm kind of retarded when it comes to sports. I'm not the cliche athletic guy but I really enjoy it and I'm determined to be good at it. I get frustrated because I like to do really well like I've done with my piano, violin and programming :P . I just can't get this physical exercise thing going for me. But anyways we'll soon see some more progress.

Andrew and I have been recording a lot of our practice sessions out on court. I've got this one of myself practising a one handed backhand.

I've got Andrew's video too, which naturally is way better than me.

So BTW, I'm turning 21 on Saturday. I'm not sure who is coming really. I kind of left invitations until the last week so it will be no surprise if people can't get the night off. Oh well. My fault. I don't really like crowds or huge celebrations anyway. I'm the type that enjoys quiet nights with real close friends. Hope I can post more interesting stuff real soon!

Racquet restringing

I thought it would be a good time to let you guys know that my brother and I have started up a business. We offer a tennis racquet restringing service and are legally known as "AJStringers". Visit the webpage at http://ajstringers.com

Our prices are pretty competitive and are way cheaper than shop counterparts. As far as we know, some sports stores are charging double for the services we can provide you. Our service is professional and we use a range of string depending on your budget and personal playing ability. So if you need to bring some new life to your game, visit the site and get in contact with us.

Bee sting

Last night was the mixed doubles final against the "Funny Bunnies" and the "Mustangs". Our team has never beaten the Mustangs since I joined early on in the season. We always have trouble against their team for some reason. I get really annoyed at myself playing doubles on Thursday nights because I can't really make some of my best tennis. I hit well throughout the week then come Thursday, I slump and make 100000 unforced stupid errors. I must say it could be the change of pace...or lack of proper technique. Anyway, back to the finals thing.

Mark and I had a close match. We were up 5-3 with match points only to surrender it to Mick and Andrew 6-5 (first to 6 match). Dissapointing but Krystee and Jo leveled the match with their 6-3 win in the ladies doubles. While watching the ladies play, a bee flew around my forehead and I tried to blow it away and it stung me. Right on the forehead. I pulled the stinger out and it hurt so much! I quickly grabbed an ice pack and called dad to bring me some antihistamines just in case. Soon later, Krystee and I won our mixed and so did Jo and Mark. We were 3-1 up in sets. It wasn't over yet. Last week we pulled an amazing comeback from 3-1 down so it was important to keep the lead.

Jo and I led at some stage during our mixed but fell apart to give it to them 6-3. Luckily Mark and Krystee plugged along and finally pulled the last set 6-5! Mark's head was really into the game last night and he, along with all of us deserved to pull off a win this time! :P Prizes weren't too fantastic but at least we have something to remember it by. We got a hand towel and a nice pair of socks.

Next season, we will all be playing again, bar Jo who probably will stop mid way through winter. Andrew and I are organizing a Monday night team (just need some girls) and hopefully I'll be playing section 1 in the winter also to get myself some good tennis, even if it means getting bageled!
