Wollongong Stopover
A few days ago en route to Sydney, I stopped by Wollongong to visit my close friends, Zeynep and Jeff. Man I miss the place a lot. The air is fresh and the weather was cooler than it could ever be on a Summer's day compared to Albury. We had coffee at a cafe called "Aqua" on Cliff Road. I hope to see them sometime soon, here or there!
2010
Happy New Year!
It's quite a relaxing feeling to be lying in my bed on the first day of 2010. I went out last NYE and I do admit it was good but I just wasn't feeling up to any large social gathering this time round. I hope 2010 brings much joy and well-being for all.
Piano Recital – Beethoven Sonata Op 10 No 2
One of the pieces I played for my AMusA diploma. I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't play it as well I played during the actual exam! I've been too engrossed in learning Chopin's Black note etude.
End of year update
December already. The year seems like it went quick because we are already in December, but if you sit down to think, it is a long time. I certainly can't remember any of the New Year's Resolutions I made earlier on. I don't know if I can be bothered making new ones either. So anyway, I've moved into my new place. It's cool go be able to organise my rooms and stuff and it's still not far from home...thanks to the parents for still doing my washing
(until I get a washing machine).
In other news, if I haven't mentioned earlier, I finally sat my AMusA exam and passed! I was so relieved. It has only taken since 2004 before I got a kick up the backside to take the exam. I think I'm more excited about learning new pieces. I'm currently obsessed with the Black Note Study by Chopin. All black notes in the right hand (except for 1 sneaky one in the entire piece), played vivace. A very interesting combination to get up to speed.
Anyway, I hope to get some pics up of my new place. Probably when I have a housewarming or something. I'd probably have to split the housewarming into friends only then family only...it's only a small place! Until then...
Virgin Blue upgrade to Gold Status
I was greeted this afternoon to a free upgrade to Gold Status! I've only flown a few times with them and I've been a member for almost a year so I thought it was a way to get me to buy more flights. Later this evening I got an email saying "friday the 13th strikes". Nice cover up. It's all over the web now. Here and here. All 2 million members should get the upgrade just for the inconvenience and false hope
Story to live by
I came across this story in one of those mass chain email things. I don't usually pay attention, but this caught my eye and sadly, it is true.
There was a blind girl who hated herself because she was blind. She hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend. He was always there for her. She told her boyfriend, 'If I could only see the world, I will marry you.'
One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her. When the bandages came off, she was able to see everything, including her boyfriend.
He asked her,'Now that you can see the world, will you marry me?' The girl looked at her boyfriend and saw that he was blind. The
sight of his closed eyelids shocked her. She hadn't expected that. The thought of looking at them the rest of her life led her to refuse to marry him.Her boyfriend left in tears and days later wrote a note to her saying: 'Take good care of your eyes, my dear, for before they were yours, they were mine.'
Only a very few remember what life was like before, and who was always by their side in the most painful situations.
Today before you say an unkind word - Think of someone who can't speak..
Before you complain about the taste of your food - Think of someone who has nothing to eat.
Before you complain about your husband or wife - Think of someone who's crying out to GOD for a companion.
Today before you complain about life - Think of someone who died too early on this earth.
Before you complain about your children - Think of someone who desires children but they're barren.
Before you argue about your dirty house someone didn't clean or sweep - Think of the people who are living in the streets.
Before whining about the distance you drive Think of someone who walks the same distance with their feet.
And when you are tired and complain about your job - Think of the unemployed, the disabled, and those who wish they had your job.
But before you think of pointing the finger or condemning another - Remember that not one of us is without sin.
And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down - Put a smile on your face and think: you're alive and still around..
