Tennis at Parklands, Wodonga
Today Andrew and I had a hit with Dylan at the hardcourts at Parklands. Andrew and I aren't used to playing on the surface and our games are suited to faster courts I think. Dylan was born and bred on these things! I quite like playing on them though, you always get a consistent bounce and you get more time to "look" at the ball. As per usual, I have some top shots of the day.

Study in Blue, White and Gold – Hyde
Last night I was cleaning out my cd collection and I found some backup cds that I had made. I thought to myself "I should really see if there is anything important on here before I throw them out". To my amazement I found heaps of high school photos and even a video of myself practicing the piano! This was back in 2004 when I was doing my HSC. This piece is titled "Study in Blue, White and Gold" by Miriam Hyde, an Australian composer.
The results of the bet!
So a few posts back I was talking about this bet with my brother about which way is the quickest to East Albury Tennis Club from our house. I have the second batch of results to show you today from taking the highway route.

So it seems that the highway route took around 50 seconds longer than the traditional route. The traditional route could theoretically be faster if you were to speed down the streets (not that I ever speed) also. The highway also takes an extra 2km. So I lost this bet! And to save petrol, I'll be steering clear of the highway.
A little bet
My brother and I have been arguing lately about which way is faster to get from our place to the East Albury Tennis courts. I like going the new freeway route but my brother prefers the old Jelbart road way. In order to settle this, I have pulled out my trusty Nokia 6110N to record all details of the journey. For this particular result, I recorded details from the courts to home using the old Jelbart road route. Check back soon for the next set of results.

The all important statistics
The Murray River
Believe it or not, I'm still yet to swim in one of Albury-Wodonga's hottest hangouts during the summer season. I always planned to go one day, but I keep postponing because I'm either too lazy or not in the mood. Since we have the pool, I really had no reason to swim in an environment that isn't controlled like our pool is. But anyway, before this month is over, I hope to have plunged into the mighty beast!

World’s most powerful flashlight
I was just reading the OCAU frontpage and I saw a link to the world's most powerful flashlight. The torch is unbelievable. With a battery of only 15 minutes, you'd think it would be hardly worth the money or effort getting one. But wait until you see what this baby can do. It can fry eggs, burn paper, light matches...anything destructive really as well as turning night into day. Take a look for yourself.
A true shoplifter
I was browsing my favourite forums as usual, Overclockers Australia, and I stumbled across the funniest avatar ever. As you can see it is a seagull pickpocketing from some random store. I cracked up so much I thought I might have to show you guys.
