Upgrade kit for my computer
My desktop needs an upgrade. I don't want anything fancy so I was looking at some budget parts. According to MSY, I can get my bare minimums for $171 which is quite good. The specifications are:
Asus P5GC-MX/1333 (Socket 775) $61
Intel Celeron 420 $48
1GB DDR2 $23
Case with Power Supply (needed for new mobos) $39
Total $171
I should also look into spending some money on a new hard drive as the new motherboards only come with one IDE connector. It wouldn't be wise to put the DVD-RW and hard drive onto the same connector. Hard drives are pretty inexpensive these days anyway. So my plan is to hopefully pick this stuff up in Melbourne during the Australian Open! yay

James you call that an upgrade, my htpc has a 4850e processor with 4gb ram, and a gigabyte mobo model GA-MA78GM-DS2H with 128mb sideport memory for the graphics. i was hoping to get away with the integrated graphics for the htpc as i was not planning on using it for gaming.

Well Tony, I for one don’t thrive on specs! I’m very conservative and use my pc primarily for application development
See you at tennis tomorrow night.
