Another round of ice skating
Last weekend I headed over with the international students to attend Salvo's ice skating idea. I didn't look so much like a novice this time because I had skated a few times before it. I still am pretty unstable though. Garrett came along and apparently he couldn't skate, considering he owned a pair of ice skates. He also forgot to mention that one of his parents is a speed skater. Anyway, as usual photos from the event:

Anastasiya’s 19th Birthday
Today (October 29 for all you in Australia
) is my dear friend Anastasiya's 19th birthday. Last night Todor and I celebrated with her by taking her out to dinner, followed by a movie on 29th Street. The presents that we got her were hiliarious. Todor and I went to Target and got two gift bags. He got her a movie, some chocolates and something cheesy - string cheese hahaha. Lame (:P). I got her a nice box of chocolates and a bottle of wine...non-alcoholic, since she's 19 - 19 year olds can do anything here ahahaha. So anyway I got some nice pictures of the night. You can see the entire gallery here.

Edgar’s Fall
This video is very famous in Monterrey, Mexico. Check out the other rip-offs of the video. The kid got famous for a bit apparently and actually got onto some talk show and some tv advertisements.

My weekend is much more relaxing
I had such a hectic week this week. I endured 2 midterm exams, a presentation and a group report but I knew at the end of the week I'd be so happy because there wouldn't be much to do...I had time to relax. Last night I was chillin' at Gaby's place with Todor and we watched Spongebob Squarepants the Movie. It was hiliarious and I can't believe I only saw it now. Later that evening Chris and Todor went out for a few beers and I headed down to the ice rink for a little practice with Garrett. I must admit that I'm a lot better than I was before, but there is still a lot more improvement to be sought.
After coming back very wet and cold (due to people hockey stopping on me, plus the rain), I watched Dirty Dancing with Anastasiya. I think I'd seen the movie before but it must have been a long time ago so I didn't remember. Chris and Todor showed up later in the night, we grabbed some pizzas and just chilled. So what an interesting Friday night I just had...haha. Anyway Anastasiya gave me tickets to the game next weekend against Missouri so I can finally attend one! Watch out for the pics for that. Another interesting side note is the countdown timer on your right, woohooo only 20 or so days to go!
The difference in the Australian and American grading system
The passing grade in the American system is relatively higher than the Australian passing mark (50) and the reason why I brought this up is to give my opinion on how they grade differently. Below is the American system:
* A = Excellent or Superior; or top 10% (90 to 100) = 4.0
* B = Above Average; or second 10% (80-89) = 3.0
* C = Average; or third 10% (70-79) = 2.0
* D = Below average, minimum passing grade (60-69); or fourth 10% = 1.00
* E/F (or any of a number of other symbols) = Failure or Exceptionally Poor; or bottom 60% (0-68) = 0.00
The Australian system:
* HD (High Distinction) 85% and above
* D (Distinction) 75-84%
* Cr (Credit Pass) 65-74%
* P (Pass) 50-64%
* F1 (Fail level 1) 45-49%
* F2 (Fail level 2) below 45%
I tend to think about the grades being relative. This means that my view of getting a 50 back home is equivalent to a 70 in the US. The thing is that getting an A is an achievable task if you do the required work, whereas getting HD's back home require exceptional work. In any case, why can't we all just agree on one system

Snowfall
So the weather people were correct in stating that it was going to snow in Boulder. Though it wasn't a significant amount to drench everything in white, I enjoyed the cold weather. Today it was pretty cold but the sun was out so it kind of canceled things out. I'm really full up on assessments this week and two midterm exams, so after 11am Friday I'll be partying like there's no tomorrow. Naturally I'm going to leave you with some photos of the first day of snow!
