Zanessa Lives!

Posted in High School Musical, News on September 25th, 2007

For those of you that don’t know what Zanessa means, it stands for Zac and Vanessa mashed together. Apparently the High School Musical stars are back together according to Just Jared. They were spotted having lunch at Aroma Cafe in Studio City. Zac also picked up Vanessa in his new Audi A6. A few days later they were also spotted having lunch at a pizza place, again in Studio City, California. They were both wearing those so called “friendship rings”. So does that still mean all good things come to an end?

Sequence Diagram Editors

Posted in Websites, Technology on September 24th, 2007

I’m taking this class at CU-Boulder called Object Oriented Analysis and Design. Basically it outlines everything about designing programs in a totally object oriented way. We strive to minimize code duplication and promote the use of encapsulation, code re-use and inheritance. Our first assignment required us to design a class UML diagram based on a given scenario. Naturally, I began my design on paper, but the submission requirements required that the assignment was to be submitted online. Seeing as that I had no UML design tools, I just used Microsoft Word to draw my diagrams. It was tedious and painful - not what I was looking for.

However, I came across a UML tool that I can use in the future assignments. It allows you to draw a sequence diagram with ease. A tool like this could save you a lot of time in transforming your UML work digitally. By creating professional results, you will probably score a few “brownie points” with your clients, or in my case, my professor! You can trial the product for 14 days to see if it meets your needs. If you decide to purchase the full program, you are backed up with technical support, tutorials, sample diagrams and free upgrades.

Ice Skating

Posted in General, USA, Boulder:Colorado, University of Colorado, Boulder on September 24th, 2007

I’ve only ever been ice skating once in my life before I went to the CU Ice Rink, that was in Albury. In Albury, they had a temporary marquee set up and it was quite small. I had bad experiences skating there with my brother and Matt. But on Saturday, Todor, Kathy and I went ice skating and I was quite nervous but all I can say is that it’s definitely easier the second time you do it. It’s cheap to skate there too, only $1 just to hire the skates. I’m sure that as time goes on I’ll get better. As usual I’ve got some photos, but this time I have videos:

After that I was fine

Todor was so excited about ice skating…

Digital Photography

Posted in Websites on September 20th, 2007

I remember the days when digital cameras were first hitting the market. They were awfully expensive and for the price you were paying, the quality of the pictures weren’t anything close to spectacular at all. Of course these days, digital cameras are so cheap, you can pick a decent camera for less than $200. My favorite camera is the Canon Digital Ixus 70 just because it is so compact and it looks kind of retro, which is the look I like about cameras.

A lot of my friends and family that own digital cameras should take the time to learn about the functionality of their cameras instead of just setting it to “auto” all the time. You can achieve much better results if you take the time to study, that is one of my most important tips. Once you have a digital camera, you won’t go back to film. You can view and delete photos on the fly as often as you want. The drawback of digital images is that people take so many photos and they dont’ know what to do with them all. They don’t have to sit there unused anymore because there is a scrapbooking website where you can turn all your photos into works of art and will make you want to look at them every day. Digital photography will be with us for a long time, so preserve those memories in more interesting ways.

Rate My Sleeping

Posted in University of Wollongong on September 19th, 2007

Back at my home university, University of Wollongong, sleeping in lectures is a common practice and does not seem to be frowned upon by your fellow peers or professors. I was once the sleeper in my first year but I learnt that you should sleep in a bed, after all it is more comfortable. Well anyway, my friend sent me a picture of a guy dozing off in a database lecture and somebody actually took a mini video of his little sleeping spell. Fellow peers then proceeded to rate his sleep. See for yourself:

Position: 9.2 (There’s no table. it’s a book, therefore soft surface)
Depth of sleep: 7.5 (His shoulders still look quite tight)
Level of difficulty: 9.2
Total score: 9.2
Position: 7.6 (certainly uncomfortable, however he’s using soft book, and falling into the table instead of sleeping backwards).
Depth of sleep: 8.2 (have to disagree with the others, the sports bag next to him implies that he is in deep sleep after an exhausting amount of exercise.
Level of difficulty: 8
Total score: 7.93 repeater!

And of course to top it off we have the youtube vid:
