Mile High City
Hi everyone. I'm currently staying at Julie's parents place in a suburb called Arvada. It's a very nice area between Denver and Boulder. Julie's parents are great! They are such a lovely couple of people. They even treated me to a fulfilling Mexican meal. Well today I kinda got to walk around my uni. I got my student card, attended a student exchange meeting, got some lunch + coffee with Julie, bought souvenir t-shirts and finally had a quick campus tour. Boulder is such a nice place...well in fact I really like the states just by being here. Everything is so spaced out and there seems to be endless stretches of road.
Boulder and the surrounding area is very high, about a mile above sea level so the air is pretty thin. It's taking some time to adjust, I feel out-of-breath quite a lot and I need to drink lots of water. Anyway I have such a long day tomorrow so I will leave you with a few pictures but be sure to check out the whole album. I'll be adding many more photos as you may imagine! Night (for me anyway
)

Hello from San Francisco
Well after a one hour delay at Sydney airport and a grueling 13 hour flight I'm am finally on the US mainland. I had the most uncomfortable seat in the aisle and at the very back. It seemed like all I did was try to sleep and then wake up and to be fed. It's so hot right now, apparently its 32 degrees outside and it's still really hot inside the airport. I've passed through like 500000000 custom checks and it's not funny....I hate taking off my shoes because it takes so long to put back on. I also had an random explosives check at Sydney so that was another experience.
Well I better be off and check my flight. This one is delayed another hour too. It departs at 3:25pm San Fran time. So until I get to Denver you won't hear from me until then.
PS. It's still Sunday LOL!
1 day
You probably are all thinking why doesn't he just post something when he's there already? But don't you remember from year 12 english journeys? It's how you get from A-B that matters! Well tomorrow I board my plane to San Francisco then to Denver. I'm getting picked up by Julie, a friend who stayed at Kooloobong last semester and happens to go to CU-Boulder.
Yesterday we left Albury to go to Canberra to see my aunt then straight to Sydney. It was only say about a 6 hour drive all up but I was so bored. Imagine seeing me on my 13 hour flight. I'd post some pictures up of work on Thursday night but all my gear is packed up so I won't be able to upload anything until I get there. Helen and Tony celebrated my trip and last day at work with a huge pavlova cake which of course I downed. It was so sugary sweet. Anyway hopefully my next update will say something across the lines of 'Made it' or 'jetlag' hahaha. Cya.
Last day in Albury
Well guys it's crunch time. Today is my last day in Albury. I woke up earlier than usual today at about 8:30am to take my brother to school. On my list of things to do I just have to do some tim-tam shopping and some last minute necessities. I'm meeting my cousin for lunch then I have to get back to packing the essentials. I hate the feeling of forgetting something and it's not going to be easy to get them in a hurry. I had to register as an overseas voter last night and that wasn't very pleasant because the form took ages to find.
So after this post I will start my day (OK I really should go right now!)
To do list
Don't you hate it when you always tell yourself that you are going to be organised and prepare yourself earlier? This is what happens to me all the time. When I'm home, I always have a to-do list that I strive to do in that day. Most days I just cross one thing off the list and shrug off the others. Now when crunch time comes (like now) I have heaps of things to cross off and they have to be done. I'll post some of the important ones.
1. Check skype video works between my pc and home
2. Buy lots of Tim-Tams (none in the US)
3. Confirm flight
4. Activate international roaming on my phone
5. Follow up on tenniswarehouse because they sent me a wrong item
6. Pack my bags
7. Clean bird cages
8. Get my bank cards authorized for overseas usage
Doesn't seem like much but it takes so much effort to do just one thing LOL. Anyway I should get off here and do it now. Cya.
5 days to go after a buffet dinner
Yep that's right. 5 days until I leave. Tonight (well technically last night) Sam, Renee, Bek, Alexi and Sli went to Commercial Club for a buffet meal. It was good to get together this time after I was left with nobody expect my neighbours last week. As usual I tried to hack as much food down as possible. We had our fair share of pokies and keno all in the name of fun.
Pool was decided between Bek-Alexi and Me-Sli. The score ended up at 1 a piece only because Bek was totally trashed...even before we got to the place anyway. As usual, I've got some happy snaps again and of course there is none of me because I'm always the one behind the camera!

Lisa Mitchell look-alike?

Such a cute couple

They didn't deserve to win one game
The Border Mail – Mum, baby in rollover
I had to wait until the paper came out this morning to confirm what happened yesterday. It turns out that a mother and baby were struck side on at the intersection which caused the car to flip over. The Toyota Hilux was going through a green light when it was struck in the opposite direction by a Honda running the reds! Both of them were left dangling in the car but apparently they only sustained minor injuries. Here is a linky to the article.
